A suspect is dead after a police-involved shooting in northwest Indiana on Friday night. He has now been idefntifed.
Indiana State Police said it has been asked to investigate the shooting, which happened near 4th Avenue and Broadway in Gary.
The shooting involved officers from the Lake County Sheriff's Department and the Gary Police Department, ISP said. No officers were injured.
What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.
ISP said there is no ongoing threat to the public, and officers remained on the scene as of 5 a.m.
The Lake County Coroner's Officer later identified the deceased suspect as 67-year-old Kenneth Williams of Gary.
Authorities did not immediately provide additional information.
