EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) — Joseph Beck was in court Friday, asking a judge for possible parole in the future after spending one year in jail for the murder of 19-year-old Kyli Molloy in Edmond.
Molloy, 19, was found murdered in her apartment in October of 2016. Edmond police exhausted all possible leads and suspects, but the case eventually went cold.
In May of 2024, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper responded to a call about a man on the side of I-40 in Oklahoma City. During a conversation with the trooper, authorities said Joseph Tyler Beck confessed to killing Molloy and was arrested.

Beck admitted that he went over to Molloy's apartment in 2016, as a then-family friend, before attempting to have sex with her and then brutally killing her when she denied his advances.
Prosecutors at the time said the best phrase to sum up the case was "if I can't have you, no one can," saying Beck admitted to being obsessed with Molloy.
In court Friday, not only Beck but several of Molloy's loved ones argued against his request for remorse.
Beck told the judge at one point, "I'm sorry for what I did. I turned myself in because it had haunted me every day. I threw up violently for 24 hours after doing it. I didn't want to. I'm not a killer. It just happened."
The family then had their chance to urge the judge to deny his request. One member said, "I love how he's saying he's proud of what he's done so far. We can't be proud of anything; we can't look forward to anything. He has taken everything from her and from us. Don't give him the chance to do anything. He did this to her; he should dwell on what he did. Please, we ask no chance for parole."
In the end, Oklahoma County Judge Cindy Truong said in part, "I'm very big on giving people second chances if they will do better. It is not in the best interest of justice. You would be out at 67. Your motion for parole is denied."
Beck continued to serve life in jail for the death of Molloy.
