Fall is almost here, but the summer heat is not over yet.
The National Weather Service is forecasting excessive heat this week, with heat indices in the mid 90s to 100 in Northeast Ohio. The hot weather will be paired with the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms.
There is also a slight chance of severe wind and hail on Tuesday and Wednesday. The hail could reach 1 inch in diameter, the weather service said.
The storms are predicted to affect much of northern Ohio: Lucas, Wood, Sandusky, Hancock, Seneca, Wyandot, Erie, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Huron, Medina, Summit, Portage, Trumbull, Crawford, Richland, Ashland, Wayne, Stark, Mahoning, Marion, Morrow, Holmes and Knox counties.
Today in Canton, there will be a chance of rain showers from 8 to 11 a.m. It will be partly sunny with a high near 87. The evening is forecast to be mostly cloudy with a low of 72.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 97. West winds at 6 to 10 mph. The night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 72.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 94. Southwest wind at 5 to 11 mph. In the evening, expect a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m. and through the rest of the night. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Later in the day, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 84. At night, partly cloudy, with a low around 64.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. At night, mostly clear, with a low around 60.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82.
