The man shot and killed at the Circle K at 940 South Arlington St. Aug. 30 has been identified as Rickie Essick, a 63-year-old man from Akron, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner's office.
The incident happened around 6:33 a.m. Sunday, according to the medical examiner's news release.
Officers responded to the shooting to find Essick had been shot in the face in a homicide incident, the release said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from Lt. Michael Murphy of the Akron Police Department.
Circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, the release said.
