A historic Connecticut home with Masonic relics got some extra attention recently.
Zillow Gone Wild highlighted the property at 185 Washington St. in Norwich's "distinctive seven-sided front porch," which has "pentagram stars in the stone walls," as well as Masonic temple stones in the yard in a post on Aug. 31. The property dates to 1870 and is listed for $525,000. It is currently pending sale. Zillow Gone Wild is a social media brand that showcases unusual properties featured on Zillow. Its Instagram account has over 2.2 million followers, while its Facebook page has more than 1.6 million followers.
Real estate site Realtor.com also listed the property in an August article highlighting unique homes, noting its pocket doors, cedar closets, exposed beams, widow's peak and a built-in preacher's bench. It also highlighted its colorful interior, including a walnut-paneled dining room, a lime-green butler's pantry, a red-orange home office, a lilac foyer and a pink bedroom.
According to its listing, the 3,336-square-foot high Victorian gothic home also has a parlor, a library with built-ins and a fireplace, two living rooms, a dining room, a butler's pantry, a kitchen, a great room, a third-floor loft, a mudroom, a sitting room, a workshop, four fireplaces, five bedrooms, one full bathroom and one half bathroom.
The property has undergone several updates, including a new slate-and-copper roof and a new slate patio. The front porch has new Indonesian Batu wood flooring.
The 0.61-acre property includes mature trees, flowering gardens, a fountain, a carriage barn, a detached one-car garage and a private paved driveway.
The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, for its architectural significance as a representative example of 1870s high Victorian gothic domestic architecture.
Real estate brokerage Redfin reported a median sale price of about $270,000 for homes in the property's 06360 ZIP code over the three months ending in June 2026, down 6.3% from the same period a year earlier. Redfin describes the market as very competitive, with many homes receiving multiple offers. Typical homes sell for about 2% above asking price and go pending in roughly 29 days, while the hottest homes can sell for about 7% above asking and go pending in around nine days.
