Latvia's security authorities have commented on media reports naming two suspects in the attempted drone attack on Leipzig airport, saying on Thursday that one Latvian citizen under suspicion had been permanently resident in Russia for several years.
Latvia's security police told the Latvian news agency LETA that it was cooperating with German investigators and providing support.
Several German media outlets reported on Wednesday that investigators had two suspects in their sights. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office has so far not commented on the matter.
According to information from German public broadcasters NDR, WDR and broadsheet Süddeutsche Zeitung, one of the two suspects is said to hold both a Latvian and a Russian passport.
A drone carrying professional explosives and a detonator was found on the grounds of Leipzig airport early last month.
The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating on suspicion of attempted detonation of an explosive device. The German government has held Russia responsible for the attack. Moscow denies this.
