The Spectrum rocket, built by Germany's Isar Aerospace, launched its second test flight into space on Saturday, lifting off at 10:12 pm (2012 GMT), a livestream showed.
It blasted off from the Norwegian spaceport at Andøya.
A video feed to the ground broke off 10 minutes after take-off as the rocket soared beyond the connection's maximum range.
The Spectrum rocket launched on its first test flight in spring of last year, but crashed into the sea 30 seconds after take-off.
Its second launch was originally planned for January but was postponed several times.
