A Houston man was arrested Friday after police say he shot and killed a pair of employees at an apartment complex in west Houston on Thursday night.
Derrick Duane Jackson, 48, was booked on a capital murder charge, accused of shooting 67-year-old Rosa Linda Ybarra and 47-year-old Felix Antonio Jimenez Macz, according to court records. In a release, Houston police said both victims were shot multiple times and court records allege Jackson also stabbed Jimenez Macz.
The two employees were found unresponsive at about 6:45 p.m. Thursday in the leasing office of the apartment complex in the 9500 block of Ella Lee Lane, police said. They were pronounced dead at the scene. No motive has been provided for the killings.
Jackson was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday, records show, and is due back before a judge on Tuesday. Prosecutors have requested a $1 million bond, though they also filed a motion to deny Jackson bond. No bond had been set as of Saturday afternoon.
Friday's arrest is not Jackson's first run-in with the law. In 1998, he pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, in Harris County and was sentenced to four years in prison.
