CANTON ‒ The National Iraq-Afghanistan Memorial "Remembering Our Fallen," a photographic war memorial, will be displayed on the grounds of the McKinley National Memorial, 800 McKinley Monument Drive NW, from Sept. 9 to 13.
The memorial includes 35 Tribute Towers with military and personal photos of 5,473 of the nation's military fallen from Sept. 11, 2001, to Aug. 30, 2021, including servicemen and women who died from training accidents or attacks while stationed stateside or on overseas bases.
The memorial has traveled to over 150 cities in 35 states since it was unveiled in Washington, DC, in late 2017. This is the final year for the memorial to tour America. For more information, visit www.RememberingOurFallen.org.
CANTON – The final Summer Serenades concert for this year will be a Canton Symphony Orchestra string quartet performing from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Canton Garden Center, 1615 Stadium Park Drive NW. GREEN – The Northeast Ohio OCD Walk will be 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road. This free, family-friendly event is organized through OCD Midwest and the International OCD Foundation and will include a community walk, activities, DJ, raffle baskets, and opportunities for attendees and mental health professionals to connect. JACKSON TWP. – The Stark County Age Friendly Coordinating Council will host Stark Age Friendly Field Day, a free event for older adults and families, Sept. 11 at Tam O' Shanter Park, 5055 Hills & Dales Road NW.
Activities are focused on older adults and promote healthy aging and community building, though all ages are welcome to attend. The Field Day will be held in and around the Tam O' Shanter Club House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with lunch at noon.
Stark Parks will provide activities including archery, birdwatching, woodcarving, wildlife viewing and a welcome by Stark County Commissioner Richard Regula followed by a moment of silence honoring first responders. JACKSON TWP. – The Pregnancy & Parenting Center will host the 21st annual Abner Yoder Memorial Links Fore Life Invitational on Sept. 14 at Glenmoor Country Club, 4191 Glenmoor Road NW. Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
The fundraiser includes 18 holes of golf (scramble format) at the Jack Nicklaus signature Glenmoor course, a $125 voucher to the pro shop, prizes, breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages.
For the non-golfer, participants may choose a spa-package option at the Spa at Glenmoor.

MASSILLON – The Massillon Museum's next History Happy Hour will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 10 and feature local author Angela Watkins, who will discuss her book "Massillon Steel: The 1937 Columbia Heights Massacre" and will debut a new book, "Canton Steel: Corporate's 1937 Blueprint for Union Busting." Copies of both books will be for sale. The event is free and open to everyone. A cash bar will be available for guests 21 and older. MASSILLON – Guests will read their own poetry or their favorite poet's writing during the Massillon Museum's Open Mic with Expanding Circles Collective, LLC, at 2 p.m. Sept. 12. Following the open mic, attendees will be invited to join a brief writing workshop. The event will take place in the Fred F. Silk Community Room Gallery. All ages are welcome to perform or attend.

MINERAL CITY – Atwood Yacht Club will hold the Atwood Harvest Moon Regatta from Sept. 11 through 13 on Atwood Lake. This year's regatta will feature competitive racing for Thistle, Highlander, MC Scow, Jet 14, and Cruising JAM Fleets. Awards will be presented Sept. 13 to the top three finishers in each fleet, along with special awards.

NORTH CANTON – The Early Childhood Resource Center will hold the Ready, Set, Swing! Charity Golf Outing on Sept. 18 at Arrowhead Golf Club, 1500 Rogwin Circle SW.
The outing will feature 18 holes of golf in a scramble format, breakfast, lunch, course games and raffles. Registration and light breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., a shotgun start will be at 9 a.m., and the luncheon and program will be at 1:30 p.m.
Golfers may register individually for $150 or as a foursome for $600. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses and organizations.
Community members who do not golf can still participate. Luncheon-only tickets are $50, and raffle tickets may be purchased online. Participants do not need to be present to win raffle prizes. An online silent auction will open to the public Sept. 14.

The Bob Meister Fishing Derby will be from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 12 and is exclusively for people with special needs. Sponsored by the Berkley Fishing Team, this event will take place at the marina at Sippo Lake Park, 5300 Tyner St. NW in Perry Township. Walkways, parking lots, the fishing pier and shoreline of the lake are accessible. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., and fishing is from 9 to 11 a.m., with lunch to follow. A Traditional Music Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Manor House at Quail Hollow Park, 13480 Congress Lake Ave. NE in Lake Township. No registration is required. Navigate the night sky to learn about stars, planets and constellations with The Wilderness Center's Astronomy Club at the Eagle Observation Area at Walborn Reservoir, 11324 Price St. NE in Lexington Township, from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 18. Feel free to bring your own equipment (telescopes, binoculars, cameras, etc.). Registration is required, but if the weather is cloudy, the Astronomy Club will not be on-site. A Stark Parks naturalist will lead a night hike starting at 8 p.m. in the parking lot.
A Wild Outdoor Women (WOW) weekend retreat will be Sept. 19 and 20 at Walborn Reservoir, 11324 Price St. NE in Lexington Township. This women-only event includes a variety of activities, from crafts to archery and the annual WOW Dash. Registration is required to attend.
