Nice weather is on tap for the rest of Labor Day weekend, perfect for Milwaukeeans looking to ring out the summer outdoors.
The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s on Sunday, Sept. 6.
Labor Day will be much the same, with partly cloudy skies.
"It's going to be nice and pleasant," said Mark Gehring, a meteorologist at the Milwaukee/Sullivan National Weather Service station. "No rain in the forecast until Tuesday night."
It's a welcome break from last week's sweltering heat, when Milwaukee area temperatures lingered in the 80s and even topped 90 degrees.
The sunny weather will continue into Tuesday, followed by a high chance of rain late Tuesday into early Wednesday. Once the rain clears out, the nice weather is expected to return Wednesday, with some humidity, Gehring said.
"It will be pretty warm and humid, but we think the most it'll get is in the mid-80s," he said. "Overall, it's been looking nicer, less stormy than what we've had lately."
Temperatures later in the week are expected to return to the 70s.
There are no current beach hazard statements warning of large waves or strong currents, Gehring said.
As always, he advised using caution whenever swimming near structures, as they can cause strong currents and unpredictable waves.
Some beaches may not allow swimming temporarily or may have advisories because of bacterial concerns.
Milwaukee health officials advised it was not safe to swim at Bradford Beach, McKinley Beach or South Shore Beach as of Sept. 5, citing recent combined sewer overflow. That's when untreated wastewater is released into waterways, typically following heavy rainfall.
