ISP: $3.8M worth of cocaine found during I-70 traffic stop

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) -- Indiana State Police said $3.8 million worth of cocaine was found during a traffic stop on I-70 this weekend.

According to a news release from the Indiana State Police (ISP), on September 6, an Indiana State Police Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on a commercial vehicle traveling eastbound on I-70 in Putnam County.

The vehicle was driven by Harpreet Singh of Greenwood. State police said Singh stated that he was transporting an empty trailer from Memphis, Tennessee, to Indianapolis.

During the traffic stop, state police said troopers located several duffle bags containing 277 pounds of cocaine.

"The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is approximately 3.8 million dollars," said ISP officials in a news release.

Singh was then transported to the Putnam County Jail. At this time, no charges have been filed against Singh
