NEW HAVEN - A New Britain man previously convicted of drug offenses has been indicted on new federal charges after he was caught trying to sell fentanyl and cocaine in West Hartford, officials said.
Jamie Patterson, 28, pleaded not guilty to the charges during a hearing Tuesday in New Haven federal court, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut David X. Sullivan.
Sullivan said Patterson, also known as "Diddy," was arrested on June 12 after West Hartford police observed him engaging in suspected drug sales on New Park Avenue and attempted to pull him over.
Patterson fled police at a high rate of speed, but was tracked to Middletown where he was taken into custody, Sullivan said. He said a search of Patterson's person revealed a 9mm pistol, fentanyl and cocaine.
Sullivan noted that Patterson's criminal history includes state convictions for drug and firearm offenses, and federal convictions in May 2023 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon as well as possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
Patterson was indicted on Aug. 26 with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Sullivan said Patterson is currently on federal supervised release and faces additional penalties if he is found in violation of his release. Patterson faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
