A LEGO-themed competition inviting participants to create parks and recreation-inspired builds will accept entries through Sept. 11 at the Freeport Park District Administration Center.
The challenge encourages builders to create parks, playgrounds, wildlife scenes, sports fields, nature landscapes or other projects inspired by parks, recreation and play, according to a community announcement.
Entries must be completed before submission and may not exceed 12 inches tall, 12 inches wide and 12 inches deep. Registration costs $10 per entry.
The contest's grand prize is a $50 park gift certificate. Runners-up will receive Family Fun Packs for Krape Park, according to the announcement.
After the submission period ends, entries will be displayed for community voting from Sept. 14 through Oct. 2.
Residents will have an opportunity to view the creations and cast votes during the display period.
Organizers encourage participants to invite friends and family members to see the exhibits and support their favorite builds. Winners will be determined through public voting, according to the announcement.
The challenge is open to LEGO builders who want to showcase creative projects inspired by outdoor recreation, parks and play spaces.
