Saturday should be the better half of the weekend across Connecticut, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures near seasonal levels. The catch comes after sunset, when clouds thicken and showers become increasingly likely.
The day gets off to a quiet start, with sunshine helping temperatures rise through the 60s. Most of the state should reach the upper 70s, with a few warmer inland spots touching 80 degrees.
Winds will be light early, then turn more southerly during the afternoon. That gradually will bring a little more moisture into the state, but Saturday afternoon itself should remain mostly dry.
With sunshine, temperatures around 80 and relatively comfortable humidity, it should be a good day for hiking, golf, yard work, fairs or one of those outdoor plans that has been sitting on the calendar waiting for decent weather.
The forecast changes Saturday night. Clouds will thicken, and showers become increasingly likely after midnight across much of the state. Some locations near the southwestern shoreline could see a few showers even earlier, while the heaviest rain appears more likely toward Sunday morning. This won't be a complete deluge, but there could be a few pockets of downpour activity in Connecticut.
Sunday looks cooler and more unsettled, with showers lingering through at least part of the morning. There should be breaks in the rain later, but skies will remain mostly cloudy and temperatures will stay in the 70s.
Monday brings a much nicer setup, with mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures returning. Tuesday remains warm and generally dry, although a passing shower or thunderstorm could develop during the afternoon.
Wednesday looks warmer still before another system approaches late in the week.
Shoreline (including Stamford, Bridgeport, New Haven, New London): Mostly sunny and pleasant; clouds increase at night with showers late. Highs: 75-80.
Inland (including Danbury, Waterbury, Greater Hartford, Windham): Mostly sunny and seasonable with light winds; showers arrive late at night. Highs: 75-81.
Litchfield Hills (including Torrington, Litchfield, Winchester): Mostly sunny and slightly cooler; increasing clouds with late-night showers. Highs: 73-77.
