A mansion in Toddville, just listed for $10.2 million, making it the most expensive home for sale in Iowa. That price tag includes nearly 80 acres of private woodland in rural Linn County, a giant lake right next to the house and — perhaps the most interesting part of it all — international artifacts woven into the mansion itself.

The original owners, the Christophersons, spent years traveling around the globe sourcing decorations and materials for the home they dubbed Castle Lake Manor. There's a Louis XV marble mantel sourced from Montreux, Switzerland, made around 1875. Another is a carved verde marble Rococo mantel from Paris. There's stained glass from Uruguay.

And for the pub in the lower level? It's hand-carved mahogany, transported from Sheffield, England.

Castle Lake Manor already looks impressive from the photos. But when real estate agent Holly Lovell stepped into it for the first time, she was "completely mesmerized."

The Christophersons "really just had a spectacular taste in history and design and European flair," Lovell said. "There's so much love put into this."

The previous record for the most expensive home in Iowa was a $9.5 million home sitting on the Okoboji lakefront. That house was also sold by Lovell in 2024.
