FOND DU LAC – Police say a report of a possible attempted child abduction in Fond du Lac was unfounded after investigators determined two people had stopped to check on crying pets in their vehicle.
Fond du Lac police responded about 7:53 p.m. Sept. 11 to the area of Forest Avenue and South Boardman Street after receiving a report of a possible attempted abduction.

All available patrol officers responded to the area, and additional investigators were called in to assist, according to police.
Officers and detectives spent several hours interviewing people, canvassing the area, reviewing available video and following up on leads.

Investigators determined the report involved two people traveling with pets. Police said they stopped at the intersection after hearing the pets crying and got out to check on them.
Police said there is nothing indicating the incident was an attempted child abduction.
