(KTAL/KMSS) – A man who was convicted of receiving child pornography in 2014 was indicted on two federal child pornography charges on Thursday.
The U.S. Attorney's Office, Western District of Louisiana, announced that Randy Allen Powell, 46, of Downsville, Louisiana, was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 10, 2026, for receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Powell was under federal supervision for the 2014 conviction at the time of the newest alleged offenses.
"As alleged, Powell's receipt of child pornography while knowing he was being supervised by federal probation officers displays a level of desperate perversion that should concern every member of our community," said United States Attorney Zachary A. Keller. "Protecting our children is the most sacred and urgent duty that this Office and our federal and state partners perform every single day. We will aggressively investigate and prosecute recidivist offenders, seeking federal prison sentences that reflect the need to deter this sick conduct and protect the public."
Prosecutors said Powell possessed the alleged materials in April after receiving them between March 21 and 23, 2026. Electronic devices, including a laptop, flash drive, smartphone, and tablet, were subject to forfeiture as part of the ongoing investigation.
