Occupants escaped Shelton house fire experiencing heavy hoarding conditions, officials say

SHELTON - The "significant hoarding conditions" made it difficult for firefighters to battle a fire at a residence on Daybreak Lane, officials said.

Everyone inside the single-story ranch was able to escape uninjured after the blaze broke out around 9:20 a.m., Shelton fire officials said.

Upon firefighters' arrival, crews met with heavy fire conditions coming from three windows at the residence, officials said. Crews had a hard time making a path inside the home to put out the blaze, and some entered through windows to search for victims, officials said.

The search of the residence was negative, officials said, and a neighbor reported that all the occupants were with them.

Officials said the fire was put out eventually, but the home has now been deemed uninhabitable.

The blaze is being investigated by the fire marshal's office, officials said.
