15-year-old fatally fatally shot in Detroit's Warrendale neighborhood

A 15-year-old was fatally shot at about 2 a.m., Sept. 13 in Detroit's Warrendale neighborhood, according to Detroit police.

Detroit police Sgt. Latoya Peacock in a statement said police headed to the area in response to an alert from ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system that flags possible shootings without 911 calls.

Police found the victim on the 7300 block of Brace Street and took him to the hospital, where Peacock said he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made yet. DetroitRewards TV, a Detroit police-run television station about unsolved crimes, is offering $5,000 for information about the shooting.

"We are requesting the community's assistance with solving this homicide," Peacock said in a statement. "Members in the community can submit an anonymous tip to CrimeStoppers at 1-800-SpeakUp or DetroitRewards TV."
