New York State Police arrested a 48-year-old Ausable Forks man Sunday in connection with the homicide of a 54-year-old woman in the town of Jay.
Tucker J. Taylor was arrested Sept. 13 and charged with second-degree murder in the death of Patricia A. Lawrence, State Police said.
Troopers responded around 10:05 a.m. Aug. 2 to a residence at 150 Carey Road in the town of Jay for a report of a deceased woman.
Lawrence was found dead inside the residence. A preliminary investigation determined she had injuries that were not self-inflicted, according to State Police.
An autopsy was conducted Aug. 3 at Glens Falls Hospital by forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Sikirica. The autopsy determined Lawrence died from severe hemorrhaging caused by stab wounds to the neck. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Jay is a town in Essex County in New York's Adirondack region, near Lake Placid and Plattsburgh.
Following an extensive investigation that included multiple search warrants, investigators identified Taylor as a suspect, State Police said.
The investigation was led by State Police with assistance from the Plattsburgh Police Department, Lake Placid Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff's Office, Essex County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Taylor was taken into custody and processed at State Police's Plattsburgh station without incident.
The Essex County District Attorney's Office will prosecute the case.
