A man is dead after a shooting at the Magnolia Lakes Apartments in Carrollton.

The Carrollton Police Department say they responded to a person shot call around 8:23 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found 24-year-old Malachi Smith shot.
Investigators say 28-year-old Matthew Durrett, who was also on the scene, identified himself as the person who shot Smith.
Smith was transported to a local hospital, where he died.
Lt. Blake Hitchcock says Smith and Durrett lived in the same building and had past disputes with each other. They had another dispute Sunday leading up to the shooting.
Durrett is being charged with murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
