We asked you to vote for the best "sandwich" in Petersburg and the results are in.
The winner, with nearly 42% of the vote, was the Kickin Chicken at Oldtowne Perks. The award-winning handheld is a fried chicken breast drenched in Perk's signature hot honey sauce.
Owner Steve Perkinson was excited to win a second Progress-Index poll. In July 2026, Oldtowne Perks, with 48% of the vote, won best hot dog joint in Petersburg.
"I just really enjoy Kristi doing these surveys to keep the community engaged and keep reminding them of the fantastic food we have to offer in the Petersburg and Tri-Cities area," Perkinson wrote to The Progress-Index. "It's fantastic for the community."
Perkinson is honored to win the best sandwich, knowing the phenomenal establishments around.
"It's fun to get the recognition of homemade recipes from scratch and hard work," Perkinson stated.

"It was such a blast prior to opening to get with my family and create a menu for our establishment. This was their favorite recipe. My family is to thank for all the fantastic menu options because without them, I don't know how I would do it," Perkinson shared. Maria's Old Town 21 Ristorante Italiano's Ribeye Ciabatta took second place, and Old Towne's Alibi's Pimento Cheese BLT received enough votes for third.
