Grab your umbrella. A stormy week is ahead for parts of Texas, bringing the chance for small hail, gusty winds, heavy rain and localized flash flooding.
A daily chance of storms is forecast in the Texas Panhandle, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Amarillo Office. But not everyone is likely to get rain all the time.
"[Tuesday and Friday] will be more widespread than [Monday, Wednesday and Thursday], which will be primarily in the west and northwest sections," forecasters wrote. "Temperatures will gradually cool so that by Friday highs will be in the mid 80s to lower 90s across the Panhandles."
Parts of the Panhandle could see lightning, isolated heavy rainfall, strong thunderstorm winds and small hail.
"Although storm chances overall to reach severe thunderstorm criteria is low, we cannot completely rule out a strong to severe storm or two," Amarillo forecasters wrote in their short-term outlook Sunday evening.
West Texas residents can also expect a wet start to the week.
An active pattern of area-wide rain chances will last through the weekend, peaking on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the NWS El Paso Office. Forecasters say storm chances are highest in the mountains.
Storms could bring heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail, frequent lightning and isolated chances for flash flooding to the region.
"The Wednesday through Friday period looks to be the most active timeframe of the forecast window although details may shift as we approach then," forecasters wrote in their outlook. "We will see multiple rounds of rain with the slow-moving trough with heavy rain and flash flooding the main concerns."
