San Marcos' newest H-E-B is becoming a more prominent sight along Interstate 35 as construction continues on the 114,000-square-foot store, with the grocery chain's towering signage now installed above the facade and additional exterior features taking shape.
As of Thursday September 10, crews had continued installing H-E-B signage across the building, including signs for curbside pickup, the drive-thru pharmacy and True Texas BBQ. The company's signature red is also appearing along portions of the roofline as exterior work continues.
H-E-B told MySA that an exact opening date has not yet been determined, though signage at the property continues to indicate the store is targeting a fall 2026 opening.
The store will become San Marcos' third H-E-B and is planned to serve the growing area along the city's east side and the Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio.
The new location will feature several of H-E-B's familiar offerings, including an in-store bakery, Meal Simple prepared foods, a Sushiya sushi bar and True Texas BBQ. The property will also include an H-E-B Fresh Bites convenience store, fuel station and car wash, along with curbside pickup and a drive-thru pharmacy.
Work is also continuing on the property next door, where groundwork is underway for McCarty Commons. The planned commercial development is expected to bring a Home Depot to the area.
The neighboring development adds to the changes underway along this portion of I-35, where the new H-E-B is becoming increasingly visible to the thousands of drivers traveling the corridor each day.
