Houston drivers are paying an average of 14 cents more per gallon of gas than a week ago, according to new data from fuel-savings platform GasBuddy.
A gallon of gas in Houston averaged $3.73 as of Monday, according to GasBuddy's survey of 2,559 stations in Houston. GasBuddy is an online tool that helps drivers find the cheapest local gasoline prices.

"Average gasoline and diesel prices rose in every state over the last week as geopolitical tensions escalated on multiple fronts, with friction between the U.S. and Iran, new hostilities in the Red Sea, and the shutdown of Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline all combining to jolt prices sharply higher," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, in a statement.
Houstonians are paying 23.7 cents per gallon more than one month ago and $1.10 per gallon than one year ago, according to the data in the news release.
Additionally, the national average price of diesel is up 31.6 cents compared to a week ago and stands at $6.183 per gallon.
A Valero and Circle K station on Gessner Road offered the city's cheapest gas yesterday at $3.19 a gallon. The highest gallon in Houston was marked at $5.79.

A year ago, Houston drivers were paying $2.63 a gallon, according to the GasBuddy data. Other Texas cities like Austin, College Station and Waco saw gas in their cities rise from 15-to-17 cents per gallon.
De Haan expects weekend attacks on Russian oil refineries to potentially impact gas prices.
"While most of the country transitions to cheaper winter-blend gasoline this week, the scale of ongoing geopolitical escalations makes meaningful price relief unlikely in the near term. Motorists should brace for continued volatility ahead," he said.
