Moose on the tracks causes train delays in Poland

Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Passengers on a commuter train in Warsaw, Poland, faced an unusual delay when a loose moose wandered onto the tracks.

Rail operator PLK revealed on social media that the moose wandered onto the tracks between Warsaw West and Warsaw Central stations on Sunday evening.

PLK said the presence of the "uninvited guest" caused service on platforms 3 and 4 to be suspended while railway employees and animal experts worked on a plan to relocate the animal, which the company nicknamed Emil.

"We are working to ensure Emil returns to his natural habitat safely, but not by rail," officials wrote.

Officials later confirmed the moose had been tranquilized and relocated to a wooded area a safe distance away from the tracks. Normal rail operations were resumed.
