Human remains found on Aug. 4 in an overgrown area near West North and Banning streets in Dover have been identified as those of 37-year-old Dover resident Tiffany Pendexter, city police said.
The discovery was made by a maintenance employee working near a retention pond. The area had not been tended to for more than a year, Dover Police said.
Police said there are no signs of foul play; they initially could not identify Pendexter due to the advanced state of decomposition.
The cause and manner of Pendexter's death are not yet known, but police said there appears to be no public threat. The state Division of Forensic Science's Medical Examiner Unit is investigating.
Flyers of Pendexter have been posted since she was reported missing from the Dover area in early July.
