The National Weather Service confirmed a derecho and three tornadoes hit the Chicago area on Tuesday.
People across the south and southwest suburbs are cleaning up after powerful storms spawned tornadoes, uprooting trees, damaging homes and knocking out power.

Neighbors said the sky turned green as the heavy rain slammed their homes.
"This is the worse storm I've ever seen," Ken Santefort said.

In Chicago Heights, Marian Catholic school said the campus is without power and the roof suffered significant damage. All student activities are canceled.
