An east Charlotte bakery is raising money for victims of an earthquake that has left over 260 people dead in Colombia.
Manolo's Bakery on Central Avenue is encouraging people to donate money to a nonprofit that aims to purchase items in Colombia for victims of the earthquake.
"Every act of kindness, whether it's a donation or simply sharing this message, reminds those affected that they are not facing this alone," a statement from the bakery said.
Officials said on Wednesday that at least 265 people were killed by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the nation on Monday. Nearly 500 people were reported missing, and over 25,800 people were impacted.
Manolo's Bakery noted that donating helps avoid the logistical costs and limitations of shipping items to the area.

Manolo's Bakery has previously held relief efforts for people impacted by a Venezuela earthquake in June and people impacted by the war in Ukraine in 2022. The bakery's owner was a leading advocate for immigrant rights during ICE operations in Charlotte in 2025.
