The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is working on several projects statewide, with a few inside the Oklahoma City metro area.
ODOT works on all state-operated highways and roadways, aside from the turnpikes that often connect those roadways. Construction along these roads can have an effect on commuters, like those driving on Interstate 44, which has been under construction for roughly four months.
Emily Long, public information manager for ODOT, said the I-44 project has undergone extensive rehabilitation on the eastbound lanes over Classen Circle. Traffic on the bridge has already been switched to the south half while work on the north half was ongoing.
Now that demolition of the north half of I-44's bridge has been completed, replacement beams will be hung later this month, Long said.

The project is on track to demo and replace the south half of the bridge in the fall, weather permitting. The Western Avenue off-ramp will also be replaced at that time.
Long said the bridge should be completed in spring 2027, which is still on schedule, weather permitting.
In the meantime, there are still some closures on the road, as the westbound off-ramp to Classen Boulevard and the eastbound on-ramp to Classen Circle are closed.
On the southside of town, Long said ODOT's construction near the intersection of I-240 and I-35 will see the expansion of I-240 to six lanes.
Construction crews are also adding an on-ramp from northbound Interstate 35 to eastbound Interstate 240.
Long said crews took a momentary pause and will restart work within the next week. This work will be used to replace railroad bridges and widen I-240 underneath.
The project is expected to be completed by fall 2027.
