TYLER, Texas (KETK) -- Love Thy City hosted its third Love Thy City Day event on Saturday to come together as a community and celebrate the city of Tyler.

The third annual celebration at W.T Brookshires Conference Center featured hundreds of resources for families and students, choir performances, baptisms, church organizations, kids activities and food all free of charge.

"This is what heaven looks like," DeMarcus Pearson founder of Love Thy City said. "My joy is seeing people come together and love on each other and they don't even know each other's name until they bump into one another. It's so amazing and it shows that we are people and that we love people."

Love Thy City was also been able to give away over 1,000 bags of groceries and 600 pairs of shoes to East Texas families in need through the event.

"Spiritual and societal transformations are taking place here today," Pearson said. "Businesses, non profit organizations, churches, volunteers coming together to love thy city."
