A Fayette County man was sentenced Thursday after being convicted in federal court of child pornography charges.

A judge sentenced Nathan Fike, 41, of Farmington, to 70 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release, according to the Department of Justice.

Fike had been convicted of distributing a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.

Prosecutors allege Fike sent an explicit video of a young child to an undercover FBI agent Oct. 4, 2023.

On Feb. 9, 2024, the FBI executed a search warrant at Fike's home, where they reportedly found more than 200 explicit photos and videos of young children.

The case was part of the DOJ's Project Safe Childhood. Launched in May 2006, the initiative aims to stop child sexual exploitation and abuse.
