Two Egg Harbor Township residents were killed Saturday morning in a headon collision involving a stolen vehicle, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Robert Barr Jr., 54, and Alice Stilwell, 67, died after the crash, which happened around 7:30 a.m. near Route 50 and Third Street in Mays Landing.
Investigators determined the vehicle that caused the crash had been reported stolen. Four people inside that vehicle - Nayshaun Brown, 18, of Atlantic City, and three juveniles - have been charged based on the initial findings, prosecutors said.
The charges, which officials said may be expanded as the investigation continues, include conspiracy to commit seconddegree aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit thirddegree joyriding, conspiracy to commit seconddegree eluding and conspiracy to commit seconddegree theft by receiving a stolen motor vehicle. Brown also faces a firstdegree charge of employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime.
Brown is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. One juvenile was ordered detained, another was released, and a third remains in custody pending a judge's decision.
The investigation is ongoing and involves the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, Hamilton Township Police Department and the state Attorney General's Office. Authorities said they may file additional charges as more information becomes available.
Officials also urged residents to lock their vehicles and keep key fobs inside their homes.
