SEARCY, Ark. — Saturday's storms caused damage across Arkansas, with Searcy among the communities impacted by the severe weather.

Residents described strong winds, heavy rain and hail as the storm moved through the area.

Evelyn Green said she was inside her home when she heard a loud boom.

"I was inside the house and then I just heard a big ole boom and I didn't know if it was a transformer or what."

Green said she went outside to see what happened and discovered a large tree had fallen onto a home just two doors down from hers.

"I did come outside to see what happened and when I did look I noticed that the tree had fallen over to the house. I said OH MY GOD, I need to take a picture of this."

Green said she was not aware of any injuries and that the home was vacant.

"It's been evacuated since I moved here back in October, but I know they were remodeling the inside of the home."

The damage was visible throughout parts of the Searcy community, while some people said they could feel the force of the storm from inside their homes.

Winston Rogers, a Searcy community member and former first responder, said he felt his house shake during the storm.

"I kinda felt my house shake, you know. I've been through a lot of storms being a first responder, previous first responder and stuff like that, but this has probably been the most intense one that I've experienced."

Rogers said the storm intensified almost immediately.

"It was heavy rain, and the wind was blowing a little bit.. but within about 10 seconds that all picked up and it was just instant 60-70 mile an hour winds."

Rogers said nickel-sized hail also fell during the storm.

Green said the extent of the damage was surprising, especially because she had not seen many trees fall in Searcy before.

"It was surprising because I've never seen a lot of trees falling down.. especially here in Searcy."
