STEVENS POINT − The Stevens Point Police Department will host its third annual National Night Out from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at Seramur Park, 1695 Reserve St. in Stevens Point.
The free event aims to connect residents with local law enforcement and first responders, according to a community announcement. National Night Out is part of a nationwide effort focused on strengthening relationships between public safety agencies and the neighborhoods they serve.
The event is designed for families and community members of all ages.
Residents who ride bicycles to the event can receive free bicycle registrations. Organizers also plan to offer free food and refreshments, music, bounce houses, children's games, face painting, emergency vehicle displays and school supplies giveaways.
A helicopter flyover is also scheduled as part of the event.
Parking for National Night Out will be available in the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Lot W on Clark Street.
Due to the large amount of foot traffic and emergency vehicles on display, there will be road closures in the area from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The following roads will be closed:
East Avenue at Clark Street and Ellis Street
Reserve Street at Clark Street and Ellis Street
Ellis Street at East Avenue and Reserve Street
The Stevens Point Police Department will have auxiliary members at the barricades to assist residents who live in the area.
