A Pleasanton tenant and a woman he rented a room from were found dead in a possible murder-suicide, authorities said.
Police responded to the 4600 block of Jefferson Court at about 7:16 p.m. to do a welfare check at a home after a nearby tenant was unable to contact his neighbors for several days.
When officers entered the home, they found a woman dead from gunshot wounds. A man was found dead in another room from a single gunshot wound. A handgun was recovered next to him. Both individuals appeared to have been dead for several days, police said.
The woman was identified as 64-year-old Shelly Wang and the man was 39-year-old Evgeniy Ilin. Police said Wang owned the home and rented a room to Illin.
The incident is being investigated as a potential murder-suicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pleasanton Police Department at 925-931-5100.
