WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Medics evaluated one person after a fire ripped through the roof of an apartment building in Northeast D.C. late Thursday night.
In a post on the X social media platform around 10 p.m., the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFD) said that units were dispatched to a working fire in the 1500 Block of Benning Road NE at the Pentacle Apartments. There, a large fire had engulfed a unit on the third floor.

Once on the scene, firefighters located the blaze, which had extended to the roof. Crews searched the structure and firefighters assisted three residents from the burning building.
In an update about an hour later, firefighters had extinguished the fire and worked to douse hot spots.
The fire department shared videos from the scene, showing the roof of the apartment building destroyed and charred.
Ten adults were dispatched and were being assisted by the Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the DCFD.
