The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is participating in Hunger Action Month alongside the nationwide Feeding America network.
Two-hundred Feeding America food banks are working together this September to raise awareness and fight against hunger, according to a news release from the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank.
About one in seven people in Northeast Ohio may struggle with hunger, the release said.
Everyone is encouraged to take action to help make sure their community has access to food.
Here are the Hunger Action Month activities planned:
Match Challenge: All gifts can be matched up to $97,500 on behalf of the Sequoia Financial Group, Harvey and Kim Nelson and friends of the food bank
Donation gift matches: Online donations at givedouble.org will be matched up to $300,000 on behalf of Ford and Northeast Ohio Ford Dealers
Volunteering: Volunteer opportunities are available at the food bank's Akron, Canton and Orrville locations
Social media: People are encouraged to post the food bank's social media graphics and suggested captions it created, available on its website
Sept. 29: Wear orange, the color of hunger relief, and post on social media with the hashtags #acrfb and #HungerActionMonth
