A criminal investigation is under way after an arson attack on a construction site in Munich overnight, with Bavarian authorities suspecting that a defence company was the target.
A spokesman for the Bavarian Criminal Police Office said on Thursday that a possible political motive is being probed.
Following a search operation, officers detained two people at a petrol station, a spokesman for Munich police said. Whether the pair - a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man - are connected to the incident remains unclear.
Authorities have not revealed which company was allegedly targeted.
Several incendiary devices were thrown onto the construction site overnight. At least one of them started a fire, which police officers extinguished.
No significant damage was caused, the police spokesman said. A further incendiary device had to be defused by specialist officers.
The devices are believed to have been thrown from a car around midnight (2200 GMT Wednesday). A witness observed the incident and alerted police.
The incident comes after two German electrical substations hundreds of kilometres apart reported suspected acts of sabotage on Tuesday.
