A man was fatally struck by a car early Friday in San Jose's second bicycle traffic fatality in two days, police said.
The bicyclist was northbound on North First Street around 4:20 a.m. Friday when he was struck by a 2024 Toyota Corolla crossing on Trimble Road on a green light, according to the San Jose Police Department. The motorist remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
In a separate incident, a man riding an electric bicycle was struck by a dump truck near Lanai Avenue at 7:45 a.m. Thursday while both were westbound on Tully Road toward Highway 101. The driver of the 2012 Freightliner dump truck, which wasn't a city vehicle, remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said
The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner has not released the identities of the victims, who both died at the scene.
The incidents mark San Jose's 32nd and 33rd traffic fatalities of 2026. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in either crash, police said.
