Two children died and two adults were hospitalized with serious injuries after a small plane crashed in Fresno Saturday, authorities said.
The two adults remain in critical condition as of Saturday evening, Tony Botti, public information officer with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office, said. The relationship between the four passengers was not immediately known, as law enforcement personnel await identification of the victims, he said.
Botti said firefighters law enforcement responded to the plane crash just before 2 p.m. near the Sierra Sky Park Airport in northwest Fresno. Responders from the Fresno Fire Department were able to quickly extinguish flames in surrounding dry brush, preventing the fire from extending to nearby homes, he said.
Residents in the area briefly lost power at the time of the crash, according to ABC30 News.
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash, Botti said.
