Elmira, N.Y. (WETM) — Labor Day is a federal holiday that celebrates the achievements and contributions of workers in the United States. Most people get the day off work, and most Government buildings are closed.
On Labor Day, which is on September 7th this year, many government buildings including the Department of Motor Vehicle, and the United States Postal Service will be closed.

All schools are also closed, along with all banks. But most bank ATMs and online banking will still be available to be used.
Most grocery stores like Target and Walmart will be open. But some may have different hours, so make sure to plan ahead.
