Kavango Resources has appointed Jasper Musadaidzwa as its new CEO and executive director, effective immediately.
Musadaidzwa is a Zimbabwean national with more than 27 years' experience in the mining sector.
He held senior operational and executive roles during his 17-year tenure at AngloGold Ashanti (AGA), working at sites across Africa.
Most recently, Musadaidzwa served as AGA's Guinea Business Unit senior vice-president.
During his time in that role, he oversaw efforts to improve operational and financial performance including extending the life of mine from 2026 to 2034 and doubling its net present value.
Musadaidzwa said: "Joining Kavango is an opportunity that carries particular significance for me. I began my mining career in Zimbabwe nearly three decades ago, and I am extremely excited to be returning to help build a mining company with the ambition to create lasting value in the country and across southern Africa.
"I have spent much of my career leading mining businesses through periods of transformation, growth and operational improvement.
"My focus has always been on turning mining potential into sustainable value by improving operations, extending mine life and building businesses that can perform consistently over the long term."
Musadaidzwa's previous experience at AGA included acting as senior vice-president of operations for the Africa Region, where he managed four mines in Ghana, Tanzania, Mali and Guinea.
These operations collectively produced around 1.1 million ounces of gold a year, generated nearly $2bn in revenue and provided employment to more than 14,000 people.
Earlier positions held by Musadaidzwa at AGA include managing director and general manager of the Iduapriem Gold Mine in Ghana and operations manager at the Siguiri Gold Mine in Guinea.
He also worked in senior technical and operational capacities at the Geita Gold Mine in Tanzania.
Prior to joining AGA, he worked for Anglo American at Namibia's Skorpion Zinc Mine and began his career in Zimbabwe.
Following the appointment of Musadaidzwa, Donald McAlister has stepped down as non-executive chairman and interim CEO and assumed the role of executive chairman at Kavango Resources.
