A new, larger Barnes & Noble location recently opened in Lexington, according to a news release from the company.

Located in the Fayette Mall, the store opened Aug. 26 with a grand opening.

It's part of the company's plan to open 60 stores this year. Another Kentucky location in Louisville is expected to open in October.

The new store is in Fayette Mall at 3565 Nicholasville Road.

Another new Kentucky store is planned for Louisville's East end this year in the Mall St. Matthews.

As of mid-August, the store was "on track" to open in October, a Barnes & Noble spokesperson said. The space previously housed the last Louisville-area Zappos Unboxed before it closed in March. The bookstore chain has around 600 stores across the U.S. and sells more than a million different physical book titles each year.

Barnes & Noble has opened about 28 stores across 15 states and Washington, DC, since the start of 2026, underscoring the bookseller's nationwide expansion.
