Visitors can take a time to smell the garlic at the Olde Mistick Village Garlic Festival dedicated to all things garlic - garlic art, garlic crafts, garlic treats and an abundance of fresh garlic.
Add to that, live music with a side of garlic.
The event takes place Sept. 19 and 20 when farmers from the region will sell their aromatic garlic harvest. They will also offer fresh produce, fruits, jams, preserves, syrups, honey, herbs, baked goods and florals, according to a spokesperson for Olde Mistick Village, with some 40 merchants and eateries.
The open air shopping center is known for its 1720s New England village appearance and is a tourist destination, drawing some 1.9 million visitors annually.
"If you love garlic, and great outdoor events this is the place to be," said Chris Regan, property manager of Olde Mistick Village.
Many Olde Mistick Village merchants and restaurants will also offer garlic-related foods and non-garlic favorites, according to a news release.
Local musicians will play throughout the festival.
"These talented artists will be performing 16 different shows over two days,´ said Tiffany Ezzell of the Olde Mistick Village Merchants Association. The festival is a family event with face painting and balloon artists for little ones, she added.
The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free parking and admission.
