WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A woman is awaiting transportation from the Wichita County Jail to a Texas prison after she pleaded guilty to her role in a drunk driving crash that left an adult and a teenager with serious injuries.
Rita Gonzalez McMullen, 68, of Wichita Falls, was indicted by a Wichita County grand jury in April 2026 on two counts of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injuries stemming from a head-on collision on Loop 11 in December 2025.
According to Wichita County jail records, McMullen has been free since March 5, 2026, the day after her initial arrest, on bonds totaling $200,000.
On Friday, September 4, 2026, McMullen appeared in the 30th District Court, with Judge Jeff McKnight presiding. She pleaded guilty to both charges pending against her and was sentenced to 3 years in prison for each count, to run concurrently.

McMullen's driver's license was also suspended for 180 days.
According to court documents, the crash took place on December 10, 2025, at around 6:12 p.m. in the 300 block of Loop 11. Police said a Toyota Sienna, driven by McMullen, appeared to have collided head-on with a Nissan Murano.
Police said McMullen, as well as the driver and the teenage passenger of the other vehicle, were trapped in their vehicles. After first responders were able to remove all three from their vehicles, they were all transported to United Regional.
The affidavit said that police later learned that McMullen had been driving the wrong direction on Loop 11 prior to the crash. Police said her blood was tested for the presence of alcohol, returning a 0.223 blood-alcohol content, nearly three times the legal limit to drive.
According to court documents, the adult driver and teen passenger of the Nissan were care-flown from United Regional to a hospital in Fort Worth for further treatment of their injuries.
Police said the driver sustained a fractured pelvis, a fractured leg below the knee, fractured wrists, several fractured fingers, and a foot that was "shattered into 15 pieces." The teen passenger sustained a fractured pelvis and two broken feet.
"The injuries to the driver and passenger required surgeries where pins had to be inserted and continued rehab," police said in the affidavit.
