Hirain Technologies and Arbe Robotics have secured a contract from an unnamed automaker to supply imaging radar for a level 3 automated driving programme covering multiple brands within the group.
The initiative targets passenger vehicles in China, with series-production radar deliveries set to commence in the fourth quarter of 2027, preceding the vehicles' start of production.
Under the agreement, Hirain will handle manufacturing, supply and integration of the radar system, leveraging its automotive manufacturing infrastructure to oversee system development, integration, validation and quality assurance.
Hirain CTO Chengjian Fan said: "Being chosen for this level 3 programme reflects the trust in our solution and our ability to execute against the standards of a leading global automotive manufacturer. Arbe's radar technology has been central to reaching this point, and we look forward to bringing the system into series production."
The radar system runs on Arbe's ultra-high-resolution radar chipset, which the firm said produces the dense, detailed radar data needed by the vehicle's central automated-driving platform.
This selection builds on the two companies' ongoing partnership, broadening it into the level 3 automated driving space.
Hirain was established in 2003 and is based in the Chinese capital Beijing.
The company supplies electronic systems and technology services to the automotive and transportation industries, covering automotive electronics, R&D services, integrated systems and specialised vehicles, alongside intelligent transportation solutions.
It maintains R&D and service centres across China, the US, Germany and Malaysia, together with four manufacturing plants located in Tianjin, Nantong, Nanchang and Malacca, Malaysia.
Arbe is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel, with additional offices in the US, Germany and China.
The company designs radar technology including automotive-grade Radio Frequency (RF) transmitter and receiver chips, a radar processing chip, and its Phoenix radar system, which features 2,304 virtual channels and serves passenger vehicle, robotaxi, heavy machinery and defence applications.
