PENNINGTON, Texas (KETK) -- An estimated 600 acres of the Davy Crockett National Forest are being overtaken by a wildfire Saturday afternoon.
According to National Forests and Grasslands in Texas, the 'Double Barrel Fire' is around 20% contained and located in Compartment 80 of Davy Crockett Forest. The fire burning closest to Elmer Smith Road and Forest Service Road 502, north of Farm to Market 358.

Crews are currently working to suppress the fire and have established a dozer line along the south end of compartment 80, National Forests and Grasslands said.
People in the area are being asked to use caution and avoid active fire operations as public safety is of the highest priority.
