A two-vehicle crash killed two people and injured two others overnight Saturday in Contra Costa County.
First responders had to extricate victims from the wreckage after the crash around midnight on Deer Valley Road near Balfour Road in Brentwood, said Ted Leach, a Contra Costa fire prevention captain. Two people died at the scene, and two others were injured.
Authorities did not immediately identify those killed in the crash.
The California Highway Patrol said it handed the investigation to the Antioch Police Department, which did not immediately respond to a request seeking more information on the crash.
