NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The North Charleston Police (NCPD) arrested a man on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Sunday.

NCPD says an officer responded to a gas station in the 3600 block of Dorchester Road after receiving a report of an armed robbery.

The victim told police he had gone to the Mobil 10 to get change for a $20 bill before returning home, NCPD says.

The victim told police he was approached by a man who began talking to him and asked whether he had any change. When the victim said he did, the suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun, demanded money and then threatened to shoot him.

NCPD says the victim handed over cash before driving away.

Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as Dameon Ronell King Jr., 22. NCPD Officers arrested King at his home around noon on Wednesday.

King has been charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime and taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
